Birthday Sundaes Cakes and Cupcakes Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to our first ever Birthday Sundaes Blog Hop!

Our first term is coming to an end and we want to say thank you  to everyone who has made Birthday Sundaes a success with a big celebration!  We are saying goodbye to a few of our current talented Design Team members today and hello to a new group of amazing cardmakers.  To kick off the celebrations, we have all made Birthday Cards with Cakes and Cupcakes for you to feast your eyes on!  What better way to say hello and goodbye!

If you have come here today from Michelle at My Passion for Crafting, then you are heading in the right direction!  If you just stopped by to see me today (thanks), you'll want to hop back over to the Birthday Sundaes Challenge Blog and start from the beginning!  Believe me, you are not going to want to miss out on one stop of this delicious hop!

My Birthday Card is a very special one!  My Middle E is celebrating her 4th Birthday this week!  She loves chocolate cupcakes and the color purple, so this is the special card I made just for her!

I'm pretty sure she is going to love it!  Here are the details...

I made my background paper by punching circles (1", 3/4", 1/2") in three different colors of purple.  I adhered them to my background cardstock and dry embossed it with Tim Holtz Retro Circles folder!  Then I used my machine to sew around the border.  I love how it turned out!

All the sentiments are My Craft Spot Inside & Out Set #2.  I absolutely LOVE the "Eat Cake!" sentiment!  I would love to eat cake everyday...hehe!

Here is a close up of the delicious cupcake which is from Once Upon a Princess.  I added Martha Stewart Tinsel Glitter to add a yummy sparkle to the frosting!

Here is a view of the dimension on the cupcake!

The inside sentiment also comes from My Craft Spot Inside & Out Set #2. Speaking of this stamp set, who wants some blog candy??  I am giving away this stamp set to one lucky winner!

MY BLOG CANDY RULES:
  1. To be eligible for the blog candy, you must leave a comment and answer what is your favorite flavor of cake/cupcake!
  2. You do not need to be a follower, but I would love if you were!

Kid's Leaf Art

Quick post today!  It's thursday, so I thought I would share another My 3 E kid project today.  Earlier this week the girls made leaf art.  They collected different leaves and flowers from the yard and then we talked about what each one was.  Then they had fun gluing them onto their art projects.  Here are their favorites.

Another Camping Critters Card

Hello everyone!  I'm going to start this out by saying that I LOVE my cats!  Now let me explain!  I had a special order for a birthday card from one of my husband's friends.  His wife called and wanted a card for her friend and she likes cats, wolves, tea, and the color purple!  No problem.  I made her card and she loved it but her husband had another idea of what he wanted for a card.  He requested a card for him to give of a wolf eating a cat?!?!  It is the oddest card request that I've ever received but coming from a guy, it didn't surprise me!  At first I said no because I didn't think I could do it.  Then after thinking about it, this is what I came up with for him to give to their friend!

He was thrilled with his card and so was the recipient.  They all got a good laugh out of it!  I used the same shape and background as the Park Ranger card I made a few weeks ago!  I really LOVE this Campin' Critters cartridge!  I am linking this up to Scrappy Moms Terrific Tuesday Campin' Critters Challenge!  Thanks for stopping by today!

My Craft Spot Monday Challenge #18

Hello Everyone!  It is time for another Monday Challenge at My Craft Spot!  This week we are "Embossing It"!  Who doesn't love to add a little embossing to their projects!  Well here is what I embossed for your inspiration this week!
So, how is that for embossing?  I used 5 different folders for this one and my bone folder on the rim of the shell!  The inspiration for this card came from a movie my husband and kids were watching the other week.  There were baby sea turtles hatching and the girls were thrilled with them!   Of course my mind started working immediately on what I could make with sea turtles and this card is what came out!

I added a Milk Chocolate Crinkle Ribbon and a button from my stash with a Cappuccino Baker's Twine bow.  The sentiment is from my favorite stamp set, Sweet Sentiments Set #1 and I used my machine to stitch around the border.  The sea turtle comes from Life's Beach cartridge!  I inked it after embossing to really let the embossing shine!

Here is a shot of the dimension on the card.  I used a mixture of Stampin' Up! Dimensionals and Helmar Zap Dots to get the effect on the different layers.  You can't see it that well here, but the shell has an actual convexed shape to it with the center at a higher point then sloping down towards the rim.  It really looks amazing in person!  Emilie was completely thrilled with it!

First, I want to say thank you to everyone who responded to my Mommy SOS yesterday...hehe!  You really brought a much needed smile to my face and it was good to hear I'm not alone!   I was happy to get a small amount of crafty time in today.  I thought I would take the opportunity to play a challenge!  I haven't had a chance to play along at the new challenge blog Cricut 360, so I thought today would be a perfect time!  This week their theme is The Great Outdoors.  I needed a Birthday Card for this weekend so this is what I came up with.

A Day in the Life on Planet MOM!!

Seriously, is it a full moon tonight???  Today has been one of THOSE days!  You know, the one where your carefully planned schedules turn to muck!   I swear, when my kids woke up today, this is what they thought the daily schedule read.....

6:00 AM - we are board so let's quietly wake the baby up and feed her M&M's for breakfast then wake up Mommy!
(#1 where did they find a bag of M&M's because had I known they were here, I would have eaten them myself a long time ago!  #2 I'm now going to have to start setting my alarm for 5:30 again so I can try to get up before/with them!  Why are my kids early risers?)
6:30 AM - Mommy is really unhappy with us so lets go fix her chocolate milk for breakfast while she is cleaning up the choco beast baby!
(#1 weren't the M&Ms enough chocolate mess for one day!  #2 now I have no choice but mopping the kitchen floor after breakfast today...yay!)
7:00 AM - Since Mommy is busy cleaning the kitchen, let's go outside and make sure everyone in the neighborhood is up for the day!  (I'm sure all the neighbors appreciate there summertime alarm clock AKA My 3 Es)
8:00 AM - Mommy decided to clean the bathroom after the kitchen so since she is busy, let's go build a fort in the living room with every single blanket, towel and pillow in the house.
(though I love how imaginative they are, I wish they would leave the clean linens alone, cue Movie time to keep them from ripping every room apart and Mommy can get some time on the computer...YAY!)
9:00 AM - Movie is over and Mommy is busy on the computer, so let's go play Mary Poppins off the bunk beds!  (AHHHHH......today is the 1 year anniversary of oldest E's broken arm.  When we saw our surgeon last time, he joked about how long it would be before he met the baby (Middle E had broken the same arm, same type of break and had the same surgical pinning from a fall 6 months prior to oldest Es....yes, my kids are Monkeys and the surgeon told us he was positive he would see much more of our active family before they are grown...yay) I would prefer no more broken bones please!)
9:30 AM - Snack time!  Baby E finds the hidden umbrellas while her sisters are snacking and destroys one (GOOD no more Mary Poppins!)
10:00 AM - Scrapping time...YAY (Mommy's most favorite part of the day)!!!
10:30 AM - Baby E lost interest in scrapping and decided to go pee/poop on the hallway floor just outside of the bathroom because her potty seat was sitting there (why did I not put that back on the toilet after cleaning the bathroom...now I have another floor to clean today...yay)
11:00 AM - Mommy is busy cleaning the hallway so let's see what all we can do with a roll of tape...hehehe!!!
11:30 AM - Lunch time....(one of the quietest times of the day because all their mouths are full...ahhhh)
12:00 PM - While Mommy is cleaning up lunch, let's see what all we can flush down the freshly cleaned toilet....uh oh....."Mommy, there is water on the bathroom floor"  Mommy says, grab a towel and clean it, "but it is a lot of water!  Baby flushed a My Little Pony down the toilet and it's stuck!"   (SERIOUSLY!!!!!  I just cleaned that floor now I have to clean it again!!!!  And to make it even better, when I call my hubby to ask him what I should do about the pony, he says "Why do you let them overflow the toilet once a month?"  REALLY, do you think I tell them to go do stuff like that????  Do you think I enjoy cleaning my floors ALL DAY????)
12:30 PM - Naptime and we better be quiet and sleep because Mommy is VERY unhappy about being in there cleaning that bathroom again (not to mention the 2 loads of  towels that now need washed just from this morning)

I really hope the rest of the day goes in a better direction!  I really do love being a SAHM but there are some days that make my head spin!!!  Anyone else having a fun day at home with their little tornadoes today?  For those of you who don't want to read about it, sorry for letting out a little frustration today!  I'm going to go hang the towels out and throw the second load in, then I'm heading in for some crafting therapy!!!  I'll be back to posting crafty stuff tomorrow!

Thankful Thursday Summer Movie Theme

Hello Everyone!  Today is my kids favorite post day of the week!  It's Thankful Thursday today and the Design Team at Crazy About Cricut has created some amazing and fun projects to celebrate Family Movie Night!  Our challenge this week is Summer Movie!  So what is your families favorite movie!  Our all-time favorite movie in our house is the Wizard of Oz!  My longtime followers know that Oldest E had a Wizard of Oz Dress-up Birthday Party this year!  Even the adults got in on the fun!  So for our project this week, my girls wanted to make a tunnel card just like they had seen Dr. Sonia and her little assistant make at Cards, Crafts and Kids Projects!  Here is what our Wizard of Oz tunnel card looks like!

My dear friend Sonia has a wonderful tutorial on how to make this creation HERE!   Her and her little assistant's card is much more detailed!  You must check it out!  Let me show you our fun in making this!

We started with these frames.  I used my Gypsy to cut rectangles with frames from Once Upon a Princess.  The little Wizard of Oz die-cuts are from my LSS and are made by Paper House Productions.

Here is Oldest E working on coloring her frames...

....and Middle E working on hers!

Outer frame - Oldest E used the Wizard of Oz Die Cuts and some Wizard of Oz Chipboard stickers to create her scene then faux stitched her border....

Next frame she gave the Scarecrow a cornfield to stand in....

Next, Oldest E gave the Tin Man some apple trees....

and the Cowardly Lion got a forest (she wanted to do lions, and tigers and bears but couldn't fit them on the frame)....

Middle E did the Wicked Witch and her flying Monkey!  She is obsessed with the witch!
After all the frames were done, we stacked them on top of each other and Oldest E added a few more of the chipboard stickers that went with the characters.  When they went for their naps, I followed Dr. Sonia's tutorial (See HERE - thank you Sonia) to build the tunnel card!  Below is the finished card at different angles!

Here are the girls after their nap.  The were admiring their work and absolutely thrilled with how it turned out!

I hope you'll join us at Crazy About Cricut for our Thankful Thursday this week!  I can't wait to see the Summer Family Movie projects you create with your kids or loved ones!  If you are not familar with our challenge and the rules, please check it out at Crazy About Cricut!  Below is the wonderful prize pack sponsored by our friends at Post-It that you could win for crafting with your family this month!  There is also a chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate for Pink By Design but you must stop by to see how you can win!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Let's Use Our Scraps Challenge

Welcome to  Whimsical Wednesday Challenge #15.  This week is our card/project challenge and we are Using Our Scraps!  We want you to create cards and projects using all scraps!  Remember you must take a picture of your scraps before you begin and it must be included in your post!  Here is my sneak peak.

Can you quess what it is???

It's a koala girl!!  Isn't she cute?

Here is what I started with.  I knew the second I heard the challenge, that I wanted to use up my leftover Koala from another project and I had this strip of Crinkle Ribbon already sewn/gathered just waiting to be used.

I added the scrap of black to the back of the koala since her base never was cut (which is why she wasn't used up in the project she was originally intended for). I gave her some cute cheekers, a sweet bow, outlined her and popped her up!  I added Crystal Effects to the nose/eyes, let it dry, then added a second coat.  Besides the 2 finger prints in it, it turned out exactly as I had envisioned!  The ribbon is Snow White Crinkle Ribbon from My Craft Spot and the polka-dot scrap is leftover from an Artful Delights kit.

The rest of the cardstock are all leftover pieces of Stampin' Up!    Both stamps are My Craft Spot Sweet Sentiments Set #2.  I hope this little cutie brings a smile to someones face!

Please join us and Let's Use Our Scraps this week at the Whimsical Wednesday Challenge!  I can't wait to see what you can do with your Scrap Stash! Stop by Whimsical Wednesday to see what you could win this week!  You still have a week to play along with our Interactive Fun Scrapbook Challenge (see HERE) and you have two weeks to play along with this one!  Also, please be sure you stop by to see the amazing projects the Design Team made with their scraps!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Knoebels Scrapbook

I love when I can get myself motivated to get a group of pages done.  This was one kit, in one week, one trip scrapbooked with the inspiration from one sketch!  The kit and sketch are both from Artful Delights!  So exciting to have it done!  Now I can move onto our trip there in 2008!  Maybe by the end of the year, I'll be able to scrapbook our trip from this year..hehe!  We'll see!  I don't want to get too carried away!  This is Oldest E's first trip to Knoebels Amusement Park.

They are in the order they'll be in the book.  I have an entire scrapbook with plans for pages from every year we go to this park!  So far there is a 2006 trip, part of a 2009 trip and now this one!  Besides a few of the page bases, most of what you see is from the July Artful Delights kit.  I have a few scraps left to make a some cards and there are 3 sheets of whole paper which will be hoarded...hehe!  OK, maybe I'll use them!  I'm trying not to hoard my paper so much anymore!  I am linking up the first page to Artful Delights July sketch challenge.  Thanks for the inspiration!  They went together so easily.  If I had known kits made it this easy, I would have been buying them a long time ago!  The last page for this trip (and my favorite) can be seen HERE!  Thanks for stopping by today!
