My Craft Spot Ch #36 - Christmas Treats Packaging

The holiday season is here!!  Are you ready for it?  I'm so far behind this year but I keep working away to get everything done in time!  Today we have a fun challenge starting at My Craft Spot to encourage the Christmas Spirit!  We are challenge you to make Christmas treats packaging for family, friends and neighbors!
My project this week is treat packaging for my family and though it is not completely finished, I have finally completed enough to have it hang in my home ready!  I decided this will be a work in progress since it will be used for years to come!!  I've wanted for many years to make a homemade advent calendar for my girls.  I can never find one in the stores that suits our style so this year I finally got started on it!  Here is what I have finished for this year!

I started out with a pack of American Crafts Solid Christmas Colors.  I made 24 different sized boxes.  I then added a layer with Echo Park Season's Greetings 6x6 paper pad which I purchased from Pumpkin Spice

I used American Crafts Sparkles tickers for the numbers on each box and added My Craft Spot Crinkle Ribbon and Bakers Twine for embellishments.  I plan on adding more embellishments for next year and I would like to cover the background too.

The boxes are adhered to a glass door that came off of a bathroom stand.  I removed the door last spring because I was worried the girls were going to break it.  My husband has been calling me a hoarder for keeping it but I knew I could use it for something!  Now I have found its re-purpose!

The boxes are held onto the frame with velcro.  I thought it would make it easier to fill and also store after Christmas.  I needed to add some helmar zapdots so the boxes sit nicely but I left the backings on them so they are not stuck to them.  The boxes are filled with fun stuff like glue sticks (which we go through like crazy), stickers, stampers, notepads, chapstick, tissues, and even a few mini lalaloopsy dolls all in sets of three so each girl gets a treat each day!  So far they have been thrilled with every little treat they have received!

Below are some close-ups!

Please join us this week at My Craft Spot for our Christmas Treats Packaging challenge!  Make sure you check out the Design Teams inspiration too!!  I'm still finishing up Christmas gifts so I can't wait to see everyones projects this week!  I am also going to Link this up at Pumpkin Spice with their Echo Park Holiday Projects Blog Hop!  Thanks for stopping by today!

My Craft Spot Challenge #24 - Friends are the best!

***Click HERE for Jo's Birthday Blog Hop or scroll down***

It is Monday and time for another fun Monday Challenge at My Craft Spot!  I really love the challenge this week!  The challenge is Friends are the Best and my friends really are the best!  Here is what I made for one of our friends and for your inspiration!

Our garden is full and I am not going to have time to do any canning as I had planned so we decided to give some of our crop to our friends who will use it!  My husband picked some peppers and just threw them in a plastic bag!  Men!!  I had to make a nicer presentation, especially for such great friends who help us out all the time!

I grabbed some retired Stampin' Up! DSP and threw this sweet little tag together.  It is stamped with a sentiment from Sweet Sentiments Set #1 and I traced over the "warm" with a black marker.  Do you get the little pun it entails!!  These peppers are sure to warm there dishes!

I used Marmalade Crinkle Ribbon and Carribean Bakers Twine to tie a bow/attach the tag and finished it off with a button.  I think they'll like it and I'm glad it will be going to some good use!

Please join us this week at My Craft Spot for our Friends are the Best challenge!  Kimberly has a fabulous prize for one lucky winner and you'll want to stop by and see what the DT has come up with this week!  Thanks for stopping by today!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party Blog Hop

Hello Everyone and welcome to the My Craft Spot Blog Hop!  Kimberly is releasing 4 new stamps sets to her store at My Craft Spot today and they are all so much fun!  I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a talented papercrafter like Kimberly as well as the rest of the creative Design Team!  If you have come from Kimberly's blog then you are heading in the right direction!  If you are stopping by to see me today (thanks), then you will not want to miss out on this!  Head back to My Craft Spot to start at the beginning!  There are so many creative projects along the way, not to mention Kimberly has given each of us on the Design Team a new stamp set to give away...YAY!  There are only 9 stops, so please join us and hop!

We have been sharing our sneak peeks of the four new Stamp Sets all week and now we are ending the week with our best projects!  I have made two fun holiday party projects for you today!  Would you like to see what I have made for your inspiration?

My first project is a Halloween project using Candy Corn Kisses!

I have been working on sets of these invitations for weeks!  I started back in July when Kimberly first told me there would be new stamps coming out!

I didn't know at the time that she would have these perfect party invitation stamps, but I knew there would be something adorable to stamp on them!  You can imagine my excitement when I saw the Candy Corn Kisses stamp set!

Here is a close up of these great stamps!

I made these Criss Cross style invitations and covered them with a homemade pattern paper (Click HERE to see my little tutorial on how to get this effect).  I added matching strands of Crinkle Ribbon to the invitation and adhered these fun googly eyes to the band!

The glitter on the bands is Martha Stewart's Glow in the Dark!   I still have another dozen or so to make, and I think I am more excited to send these out to everyone than I am to have the Halloween party!  These stamps couldn't have been any more perfect!

My second project is a Thanksgiving project using the Happy Fall Stamp Set!

I made little Thanksgiving treat boxes.  You know how there is always that period of time before dinner where there are people sitting at the table just waiting for the BIG dinner to be served.  I thought this could be a cute, tasty little snack before hand or it can be saved for afterwards (if there is room)!

I filled a cello bag with these chocolate & yogurt flavored nuts and raisins then tied it closed with Chocolate Truffle Bakers Twine (that almost sound good enough to eat)!  I stamped the "Gobble Gobble!" stamp on a vanilla card stock and punched it out to make a tag.  I was thinking these could also double as name plates for dinner too by writing every one's names on the back side!

The "Turkey Time!" is another one of the fun stamps from the new Happy Fall set.  The papers are a retired Stampin' Up! DSP and the colors are beautiful.  Notice how the gorgeous Crinkle Ribbon matches perfectly!  I cut the turkey from Animal Kingdom and colored it with Stampin' Write Markers.

The scalloped squares are from Plantin Schoolbook.  Everything is popped up and layered with either SU dimensionals or Helmar Zapdots.  Since Thanksgiving is still 3 months away, I only filled one bag for now.  I'll be munching on the rest of these until it is time to stuff the boxes and the bird...mmmmm!

Ok, so who wants some blog candy?  Kimberly has given me my favorite stamp set to give away to one lucky winner today,
Happy Fall!

Whimsical Wednesday Challenge #18 - Back to School

Hello everyone!  It is wednesday and time for another Whimsical Wednesday challenge!  This week, Faith- Abigail chose our fun challenge, "Back To School"!  Create any type of project that has to do with school (no cards this week). Examples are-organizers, teachers gifts, book marks, decorated binder clips, you get the picture!  Stop by the Whimsical Wednesday designers for some inspiration!   They are all so talented!  Here is what I came up with for some inspiration today!

I made a few little "Back to School" gifts for my daughter and her friends who are heading to Kindergarten in a few weeks!  I'm going to fill them with these cute mini hand santitizers from Bath & Body Works!  I thought they would make a nice addition to their lunch boxes!

I started out with these little candy bags which I order in bulk from the local Candy Co.

I added scraps of school pattern paper to the bag fronts.  I cut a cute little box of crayons from Simply Charmed and popped it up.  Then I added each of the kids names to their bags!

Quick little cards for in the bags!  I'm not sure who makes these stamps (or if they are even mine, they must be my moms) but they are cute and perfect for the kiddos 1st day of school!

I also thought it would be cute to turn them into little backpacks!  I love how they turned out and I'm sure the kids are going to love their fun little "Back to School" gifts too!

So, what kind of fun "Back to School" projects do you have on your to do list?  We would love to see them this week at the Whimsical Wednesday challenge blog!  You have two weeks to link up your projects and remember that you still have a week to link up to the "Sense of Humor" scrapbook challenge!  Thanks for stopping by!

Inking It Up Crazy Birthday Bash Guest Design

Happy Birthday Kassidy!  It's a Birthday Bash all month long at Inking It Up Crazy!  Kassidy is celebrating her Birthday in style with all her friends!  There are giveaways and guest designers everyday in June so stop by and join in the fun!
I am so excited about Guest Designing again this month for Kassidy!  Today Kassidy's favorite item is Brads & Eyelets!  I love making bags and boxes, so I was thrilled when I heard my assignment!  Here is my brads/eyelets project!
I made a set of 3x3 whale cards with a matching bag to hold them!

The large whales were cut at 7.5", layered, outlined, stickled and I added button shaped brads for the eyes!  I made a simple box and attached the two whales to it to form the bag.

I used Stampin' Up! Jumbo Eyelets to attach the handles to the bag.  I was trying to catch a picture of this Hand Dyed Crinkle Ribbon.  It is Black Diamond from My Craft Spot and I love it because it has a fine mist of glitter on it!  It looks fantastic in person!

The whales on the cards are cut at 2.65", layered, outlined, stickled, and I added small black brads for the eyes.  The background is embossed with the Tiny Bubbles Cuttlebug folder, then I added eyelets, bakers twine and a blue button.  The tag is hand cut, stitched and stamped with "smile" from My Craft Spot's Inside & Out Set #1.

I added a lot of Dimensionals to get my layers, so many layers that these cards are hard to fit in the envelopes, but they sure are cute!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday Guest Designer

Hello everyone!  Welcome to my Guest Designer Project for this week's Challenge Me Monday at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog!  I am so excited to be joining the amazing FCCB Design Team today!  The challenge for this week's Challenge #62 is Remember This!  Make something to remember a special person, time or anniversary.  The second I saw this challenge, my mind immediately went to my Oldest E's Preschool Graduation!  I wanted to make her something special to give to her (besides her scrapbook) to remember her early school days!  Here is what I came up with!
I made a Memory Box to hold a picture book for each school year (Preschool - Fifth Grade)!

I found this box in my Yard Sale junk box!  It had some cards in it which I can still sell but the sturdy box was exactly what I was looking for!

I used Mod-Podge to cover the lid of the box with this fun School Days Paper!

I added little school themed Cricut cuts to all four sides of the box!

I used one of my favorite embellishments, Bakers Twine from My Craft Spot!

All of the Cricut cuts are outlined and popped up...

and I even managed to get my favorite little bookworm on here!  I like to add Crystal Effects to his glasses to make them look more realistic!

Here are the cuts on the ends of the box.

The little school bus with the stamp across the bus was inspired by my very talented friend Kate (I told you I  was going to be borrowing the idea too...hehe)!   Her little bus is much cuter with little kiddos and everything but I really loved the stamped idea!  Thanks Kate!

I used vinyl on the top of the box so that I don't have to worry about the top being torn up when getting store!  i'm sure eventually there will be stuff stacked on top!

I am so proud of myself for even getting all the little books prepared!  There is one for each school year Preschool through 5th grade (that is all the further the paper pad went up too).  Each book has 6 blank pages to add pictures/comments (front and back) so I figured I can get about 12 events in each book!  Her Preschool book is already mostly done (except for a few pics that need printed)!  Most of the pictures include classmates so I can't show you the inside of the book without having to blur out most of it but you get the idea!

  • Stampin' Up! Cardstock and Crystal Effects
  • Locker Talk Cricut Cartridge
  • Plantin School Book Cricut Cartridge
  • Doodlecharms Cricut Cartridge

Teacher's Apple Box Set

Since the end of the school year is upon us, I wanted to make another teacher gift!

Doodlecharms has one of the cutest apples!

I decided to make another box set of cards like my last teacher appreciation project!

The box apple is cut at 6" and the card apples are cut at 3".  I used my Gypsy to weld them into cards.

I added the little tag with Bakers Twine from My Craft Spot and stamped it with a My Creative Time stamp.  The tag was missing something so I sponged it blue (which actually worked out great because now the project fulfilled a Throwback Thurs requirement)!

The little apple shaped cards are stamped with "...just a little note" but it does not show up well in the pictures.

Products Used:
  • Stampin' Up! Solid Cardstock, Stamp, Bermuda Bay Ink
  • Bo Bunny Double Dot Paper
  • Doodlecharms Cricut Cartridge
  • My Creative Time I Believe in Leprechauns Stamp Set
  • My Craft Spot Black Licorice Bakers Twine
  • Stickles
