My project this week is treat packaging for my family and though it is not completely finished, I have finally completed enough to have it hang in my home ready! I decided this will be a work in progress since it will be used for years to come!! I've wanted for many years to make a homemade advent calendar for my girls. I can never find one in the stores that suits our style so this year I finally got started on it! Here is what I have finished for this year!
I started out with a pack of American Crafts Solid Christmas Colors. I made 24 different sized boxes. I then added a layer with Echo Park Season's Greetings 6x6 paper pad which I purchased from Pumpkin Spice.
I used American Crafts Sparkles tickers for the numbers on each box and added My Craft Spot Crinkle Ribbon and Bakers Twine for embellishments. I plan on adding more embellishments for next year and I would like to cover the background too.
The boxes are adhered to a glass door that came off of a bathroom stand. I removed the door last spring because I was worried the girls were going to break it. My husband has been calling me a hoarder for keeping it but I knew I could use it for something! Now I have found its re-purpose!
The boxes are held onto the frame with velcro. I thought it would make it easier to fill and also store after Christmas. I needed to add some helmar zapdots so the boxes sit nicely but I left the backings on them so they are not stuck to them. The boxes are filled with fun stuff like glue sticks (which we go through like crazy), stickers, stampers, notepads, chapstick, tissues, and even a few mini lalaloopsy dolls all in sets of three so each girl gets a treat each day! So far they have been thrilled with every little treat they have received!
Below are some close-ups!
